What is it

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that alters the shape of the nose either to improve the look or its function. Traditionally, this is done with surgery using incisions inside and outside the nose, with cartilage grafting to restructure and reshape the nose. When done correctly, this procedure can produce dramatic changes and excellent results. However some patients do not require drastic changes, and do not want the risks of a lengthy surgery.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty involves the placement of facial fillers into the nose to achieve the desired look. The most common application is for patients with a low bridge that would like a more narrow and defined appearance from the front, and an improved profile view. It also can be used to symmetrize the nose and reduce sharp angles.

How is it done?

This procedure is done in the office and does not require any anesthesia. A topical anesthetic cream can be applied at the patient’s request. The filler is placed exactly where it is required until the desired effect is achieved. The procedure typically takes 15-20 minutes.

The results are immediate and because hyaluronic acid fillers are used, the process can be easily reversed with a simple injection.

Who is a good candidate?

The procedure is ideal for patients who require minor changes like raising the bridge of the nose or improving contours. The procedure cannot reduce the size of the nose or dramatically alter the shape of the tip. It is not recommended if you have a nasal implant as there may be a higher risk of infection.

What are the risks?

Most patients will experience some swelling of the nose for 3-5 days. As with the placement of any filler or injectable, there is a risk of bruising, but this will resolve within 1 week.
